BIS 124 - Coastal Marine Research

Conducting research is one of the most thrilling and challenging parts of many careers in science.  In this class, you will gain practical, hands-on experience conducting your own research project on a topic of your choice related to EVE 114 (Experimental Invertebrate Biology). With a small class size (<20 students) and lots of one-on-one mentoring, BIS 124 provides students with training and experience in all aspects of the research process including making observations, generating hypotheses, designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and scientific communication. BIS 124: Coastal Marine Research (6 units)

Offered: Summer Session I (Professor Sanford)

Prerequisites: Introductory biology (Biological Sciences 2A, 2B, and 2C); Recommended courses: ecology (EVE 101) and/or evolution (EVE 100). Concurrent enrollment in EVE 114 (Experimental Invertebrate Biology) and residence at or near Bodega Marine Laboratory are required.
